If you’ve stepped into Silvia’s world, you may wonder how she came to be.

We believe Providence was the biggest part of our good fortune in finding our ’72 Airstream Ambassador, because she was only the third one we looked at and we found her in only one weekend!
The two Airstreams we looked at in the Asheville, NC area were nice enough, but the interiors had been gutted and modernized beyond any recognition as an Airstream, and we knew immediately they weren’t for us. So we expanded our search area and headed to Charlotte NC the next day. It was immediately evident to us that owner, Ben, had kept his 48-year-old Airstream in extraordinarily good repair, and that he had conscientiously kept her as original as possible – the minute we stepped inside it was difficult to contain our excitement.

We brought her home Thanksgiving weekend ’19 and christened her Silvia, after the ’72 hit by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show, “Sylvia’s Mother”, with the slight change in spelling for our Silver girl.
Silvia was our second home over the next 10 months as we worked many evenings and every weekend, finishing one project and starting another, while playing ’70s music cds we were stocking up on for Silvia’s guests, taking naps and enjoying overnighters on her new mattresses, trying out the shower after completing the new water heater and shower curtain installs, having meals from food we kept stocked in the fridge and cupboards, and always ending the day watching the sunset or the moonrise.

By August ’20, our To Do Lists had all been completed, Silvia was ready for her first guests, and we said our prayers. We’ve since been repeatedly rewarded by our guests’ positive reactions in embracing Silvia’s originality and relaxing vibe. Gayle and I agree that this has been one of the wisest, most rewarding steps we’ve taken in our lives; the same as previous owner, Ben, we see ourselves as Silvia’s stewards and champions, and are so happy and honored to share our old girl’s incredible uniqueness with you.
