Bring it, February

All of our family, friends and co-workers (and us, a wee bit) have been very surprised and encouraged that Silvia has been continually booked through all of January and now February, usually our most wintery month and typically not at all conducive to camping of any kind. But last weekend our guests weren’t due to arrive until Saturday afternoon, so Gayle and I spent Friday night in Silvia to check out her WCF – Winter Coziness Factor.

Of course it was chilly out, but we just bundled up, pulled our chairs up close to the patio heater on the deck and enjoyed a couple of drinks while we watched a pretty sun set and the big gorgeous full moon rise around 6:30. Then we went inside, turned up the 70s music cds, cooked some pasta, and played a few rounds of rummy before turning in around 10 to read a bit while the Barred Owl called from up on the ridge. We were simply full, warm and happy – not a bad way to spend a Friday night.

This past weekend, we had our first snowfall of the year and Silvia kept our guests warm and cozy inside while they made dark chocolate-dipped Oreos and strawberries. AND they left some for us – Bonus!
